The Final End of Pax Americana – Implications for Business and Society
Ivo DAALDER, President, Chicago Council on Global Affairs; Former US Ambassador to NATO; Former Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council; Member, stars International Board, Chicago, United States
4 September 2024, 11.30-14.00h
Wolfsberg, Ermatingen

We are facing a multitude of disrupting phenomena in complex, interconnected systems such as geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions and wars, systemic rivalries, the emergence of a multipolar world, climate and energy crises, migration and technological developments. In addition, we are confronted by economic challenges like supply chains, inflation, sanctions and trade wars. Where is “geopolitics” heading? Are we seeing the end of the Pax Americana? What impact will have a Biden or Trump victory in the US election in November of this year? Is the US ready to lead again? What is the impact of these geopolitical developments on the global economy? And what implications do international companies and organisations have to be prepared for? In this Friends of stars Meeting, stars International Board Member Ivo H. Daalder, President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and former U.S. Ambassador to NATO, discusses these and other crucial questions.
