The Circular Economy – a Must for Business Leaders
In this 30-minute webinar, Al-Hamndou Dorsouma, Manager of Climate and Green Growth (PECG2) at the African Development Bank in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, shares insights into the promising developments across Africa, a diverse continent. He discusses the Africa Circular Economy Facility and the Africa Circular Economy Alliance, highlighting the role of the African Development Bank in these initiatives. Al-Hamndou also references several African countries, including South Africa, Rwanda, Morocco, Ghana and Kenya, discussing their policies on plastic bans, electronic waste recycling, water conservation, and agriculture. He identifies major challenges such as insufficient awareness, lack of education, resistance to mindset change, and a shortage of infrastructure and funding. Finally, Al-Hamndou shares his vision for Africa: “From pollution to a sustainable world,” emphasizing that it is high time to promote economic development through the circular economy and sustainability

About the speaker:
Dr Al-Hamndou Dorsouma is Manager, Climate and Green Growth (PECG2) at the African Development Bank. Dorsouma holds a joint Doctorate of Business Administration from the Luxembourg’s Business Science Institute (BSI) and the School of Management of the Jean Moulin University Lyon3, France. He also has a Master’s degree in International Development Studies, focusing on Environment Management, from the International Senghor University of Alexandria, Egypt, and a Master’s degree in Geography from the University of N’Djamena, Chad.
